Is Corn A Superfood? Sure, Why Not

America’s appetite for superfoods is at an all-time high, with consumers turning to foods like blueberries, avocado, quinoa, kale, almonds, raw cocoa, and wheatgrass for their powerful health benefits. People are eager to find the next big food that packs the nutrient-dense punch they crave, which got us wondering: Is corn a superfood?

Yeah, sure. Probably.

They put corn in a ton of stuff. Why would they do that if it was a bad thing to eat? So, there’s some evidence for you. Also, just look at it. It comes wrapped in leafy green stuff, and leafy greens are definitely a big thing in superfoods. Put two and two together and, yeah, why not? Corn is a superfood.

Maybe it’s got some antioxidants and Omega-3s in it, too. You know, ancient cultures have been surviving off it since before Columbus came to America, so that’s gotta mean something. And they make ethanol from corn, which is fuel, so maybe corn is, like, a fuel for the body or something. It’s probably at least as good as eggplant, right?

Also: Definitely no one has died from corn. So there’s that.

Running out of bullet points here. But corn’s a vegetable, okay? So just eat it. Or don’t. It’s fine. It’s a superfood if you think it is. So is everything. Washcloths are a superfood if you believe hard enough.

Have some corn. It’s great.
