Losing a loved one is a time of great sadness, but the folks at Campbellā€™s Soup are doing their part to make the weight of death just a little lighter: The iconic soup company is offering $5,000 to anyone who mentions Campbellā€™s products in their dying words.

Thatā€™s right. The promotion is called Campbellā€™s Dearly Departed, and itā€™s open to all American citizens who die between now and October 1, 2015!

ā€œWe wanted to get the word out on our new line of Slow KettleĀ® Style soups, and we also wanted to honor the fans of our products who are dying,ā€ explained Campbellā€™s vice president of marketing Lara Whitcomb. ā€œCampbellā€™s Dearly Departed is an elegant way to do both.ā€

To be eligible for the prize, the dying have to clearly utter the Campbellā€™s Soup plug and are not allowed to say any sentence or clause following their promotion, although the company has since announced that screaming and crying are allowed. Campbellā€™s will also own the rights to your loved oneā€™s last words for use in print and TV ads.

ā€œWhen my bedridden father took my hand and told me, ā€˜Thomas, I am extremely proud of the father youā€™ve become, because you always feed your children Campbellā€™s Homestyle Chicken Chili, which has all the flavor but half the calories of the competitorsā€™. #CampbellsDearlyDeparted,ā€™ I was deeply moved,ā€ said Thomas Singleton, whose father recently lost a long and painful battle with pancreatic cancer. ā€œAnd knowing that we have a $5,000 check definitely eases the pain a bit. Thank you, Campbellā€™s.ā€

ā€œMiss you every day, Dad,ā€ added Singleton.

Campbellā€™s is also offering an additional $500 for every branded hashtag that a customer utters in his or her last breath, up to $2,500. Some of those hashtags include:

#HeartyBeefBarley
#RestInPeaSoupFromCampbells
#NoRegretsExceptDidntEatMoreCampbellsSoup
#MmmMmmCampbellsSoup
#HeavenIsCampbellsSoup
#ReadyToMeetMyCampbellsSoupMaker
#HeadTowardTheLiteChickenAndBasilCampbellsSoup
#CampbellsCondolences
#Soup

ā€œWe know that our customers want to be around their friends and family in their final moments, and Campbellā€™s Soup is best enjoyed in that very same company,ā€ said Whitcomb. ā€œOur thoughts go out to all of our Campbellā€™s Soup Dearly Departed participants, who enjoyed chunky homestyle soups in this life, and we hope theyā€™ll enjoy them in the next one, too.ā€

Simply amazing. Campbellā€™s Soup, our hats are off to you.
