Amazing: Campbell’s Soup Is Offering $5,000 To Anyone Who Mentions Campbell’s Products In Their Last Words

Losing a loved one is a time of great sadness, but the folks at Campbell’s Soup are doing their part to make the weight of death just a little lighter: The iconic soup company is offering $5,000 to anyone who mentions Campbell’s products in their dying words.

That’s right. The promotion is called Campbell’s Dearly Departed, and it’s open to all American citizens who die between now and October 1, 2015!

“We wanted to get the word out on our new line of Slow Kettle® Style soups, and we also wanted to honor the fans of our products who are dying,” explained Campbell’s vice president of marketing Lara Whitcomb. “Campbell’s Dearly Departed is an elegant way to do both.”

To be eligible for the prize, the dying have to clearly utter the Campbell’s Soup plug and are not allowed to say any sentence or clause following their promotion, although the company has since announced that screaming and crying are allowed. Campbell’s will also own the rights to your loved one’s last words for use in print and TV ads.

“When my bedridden father took my hand and told me, ‘Thomas, I am extremely proud of the father you’ve become, because you always feed your children Campbell’s Homestyle Chicken Chili, which has all the flavor but half the calories of the competitors’. #CampbellsDearlyDeparted,’ I was deeply moved,” said Thomas Singleton, whose father recently lost a long and painful battle with pancreatic cancer. “And knowing that we have a $5,000 check definitely eases the pain a bit. Thank you, Campbell’s.”

“Miss you every day, Dad,” added Singleton.

Campbell’s is also offering an additional $500 for every branded hashtag that a customer utters in his or her last breath, up to $2,500. Some of those hashtags include:

#HeartyBeefBarley
#RestInPeaSoupFromCampbells
#NoRegretsExceptDidntEatMoreCampbellsSoup
#MmmMmmCampbellsSoup
#HeavenIsCampbellsSoup
#ReadyToMeetMyCampbellsSoupMaker
#HeadTowardTheLiteChickenAndBasilCampbellsSoup
#CampbellsCondolences
#Soup

“We know that our customers want to be around their friends and family in their final moments, and Campbell’s Soup is best enjoyed in that very same company,” said Whitcomb. “Our thoughts go out to all of our Campbell’s Soup Dearly Departed participants, who enjoyed chunky homestyle soups in this life, and we hope they’ll enjoy them in the next one, too.”

Simply amazing. Campbell’s Soup, our hats are off to you.
